Chilled mango falooda makes for a tempting dessert that you can eat & drink as well. It is supremely soul satisfying dessert in summers.

What better than rounding off your lunch or dinner with flavourful thick milk, real mango pulp and pieces, vermicelli, soaked basil seeds, topped with simple vanilla ice cream, tutty fruity and dry fruits, i.e. mango falooda, sounds scrumptious na?

The mango season is halfway through in India. So it’s compulsory for me to have some mango recipes on the blog.

This is a very simple recipe of making falooda. Though if you want, you can add both custard and jelly also to this.

The Ingredients used for making Mango Falooda Recipe | How to make indian dessert Falooda

For making this dessert, I have used readymade pack that is easily available in stores. This 100 grams packet comprises, basil seeds, vermicelli, mango flavoured sugar, and custard powder.

All you need to just take 1/2 liter of milk, boil it and mix all the above mentioned ingredients. Cool it and keep it in the fridge. While serving top it with choice of your icecream and nuts.

Apart from that I have soaked some extra sabza seeds, used tutty fruity, some chopped nuts, mango puree, mango chunks and vanilla icecream.

 

What if I have no access to readymade falooda pack?

No worries, you can still make this yummy dessert by assembling the same ingredients from scratch.

The falooda ingredients include  thickened and sweetened milk (by adding some vanilla custard powder), cooked & sweetened falooda
sev/vermicelli, bloomed basil or sabja/takmaria seeds, sweetened mango puree, mango chunks, ice cream, tutty fruity and chopped nuts.

Step by step instructions to make mango falooda

Empty the contents of the ready falooda pack on a plate.

 

 

Take 1/2 liter of milk in a non stick pan. To this add 1/2 glass (100ml) of water

Let it heat and once it comes to rolling boil, lower the flame and let it simmer.

Now add the contents of falooda mix pack in the milk.

 

Cook it for around 10 minutes while stirring continuously. Once the mixture becomes thick and creamy switch off the flame. Let it come to room temperature.

 

Put this into refrigerator to chill for 2 hours and your falooda is ready to serve.

Serving suggestions :

For making layers of falooda, take a tall glass. Add 1 spoon soaked basil seeds at the bottom. Pour Rooh afza syrup on top. Top it up with some chilled falooda mix. Layer with chopped mango chunks and mango puree.

Again layer with soaked sabza, rose syrup, falooda mix, mango chunks and puree.

Top it with vanilla ice cream, dry nuts and chopped mangoes chunks.

Serve chilled.

  • Readymade Falooda pack - 1

      Sabza is a cooling agent and also known as takmaria, or basil seeds.

      You can google and check the pics what it looks like. Sabza is widely used in making falooda in India.
