This Gond katira fruit drink is a refreshing, light, non alcoholic drink made with all natural ingredients and is perfect for a hot summer’s day.

Using fresh chopped fruits, coconut water, lime juice, mint leaves, Rooh afza syrup  and Gond katira, the main ingredient of this recipe. It’s also known as Tragacanth Gum or Edible Gum and tukmaria / sweet basil seeds add perfect crunch.

What is Gond katira in Gond Katira Fruit Drink?

Gond Katira is also known as Tragacanth Gum or Edible Gum. It is a natural superfood, odorless, and tasteless edible gum According to Study.

When soaked in water, the dry gum swells and forms a translucent, jelly-like substance that can be consumed or applied topically for various health benefits.

 

Ingredients used to make Gond Katira fruit drink

Gond katira crystals – The main ingredient to make this drink with so many health benefits

Sweet basil seeds – also known as Sabza or Takmaria or Tukmalanga

Fresh Fruits – You can use as many fresh fruits as you can in the season. It can be Strawberries, Watermelon, Bananas, oranges, Kiwi, Mango, Sweet lime, Pomegranate, Dragon fruit and Grapes.

Coconut Water – Fresh Coconut water or plain water is best for this recipe.

Lemon Juice – Freshly squeezed lemon juice.

Sweetener – Here I have used Rose syrup which is completely optional. However, you can use sugar, honey or agave to sweeten this recipe.

You may not need anything as Coconut water is naturally sweet and fresh seasonal fruits are also naturally sweet.

This recipe to make Gond katira fruit drink is a refreshing, light, non alcoholic drink made with all natural ingredients and is perfect for a hot summer’s day.

Ingredients
  

  • 3-4 Crystals of Gond Katira
  • 2 Tbsp Sabja seeds
  • Fruits of your choice - I have used Mango, Watermelon, Apples, Oranges, Dragon fruit, Grapes, Pomegranate pearls and Strawberries
  • 1 Cup Rose Syrup
  • 1 Litre Coconut Water
  • Ice Cubes

Method
 

  1. To begin with let's prepare few things to make this delicious drink. First, soak gond katira crystals in enough water to swell up overnight or for 8 hours.
  2. After that soak sabza/Takmaria/Tukmalanga in water foe 2 hours. Now, clean, wash all the fruits. Chop them in Cubes.
  3. In a big bowl add fresh coconut water. To this add soaked sabza and gond katira. Next, add all the chopped fruits. To this add rose syrup and lemon juice.
  4. In the last, add lots of Ice cubes.
  5. Finally, test the taste and adjust the sweetness accordingly. Mix well and serve immediately.
  6. Garnish with fresh mint leaves and enjoy.....

Notes

1. You can choose fruits of your liking and whatever available in the season.
2. Fruits and coconut water has sufficient sweetness so if you wish to omit Rooh afza its completely ok. And if making this recipe Vegan, there is no need to add Rooh afza. You may choose the sweetener accordingly.
3. I have added Rooh afza as it imparts lovely red colour and flavor to this drink.
