Jamun Panna | Indian Java Plum Summer Drink | How to make Jamun ka panna | Kala jamun panna recipe | Non alcoholic Indian Java plum cooler with step by step instructions
Jamun Panna | Indian Java Plum Summer Drink (cooler) is an easy to make, delicious, flavorful, tangy, sweet, non alcoholic, dairy free, vegan and gluten free recipe.
The recipe to make this summer cooler is quite similar to Aam panna which I have shared earlier on the blog.
Summers here in India is mostly associated with Mango. But for me, I always look forward to this purple fruit.
When I decided to give Jamun recipe a special place on my blog, I thought to begin with the best and easy recipe of Panna along with Tarbooj panna, Sattu namkeen sharbat, Homemade Mango fruity and Jal jeera to beat the summer heat
Ready in minutes, loaded with awesome flavors of roasted cumin powder, mint and pink salt this summer cooler is so refreshing and ideal to keep the summer heat at bay in a delicious way.
Jamun Panna | Indian Java Plum Summer Drink, what is it?
Jamun is a small sized fruit/berry with a dark purple skin with pinkish white flesh. It evokes childhood memories of Summer afternoons for me and many who are reading this.
It is known by various names. We in Sindhi language call it kara jammu, which translates to black jamun.
It’s also known as java plum, fresh blackberry, black plum, jambul, jambus, kala jamun etc.
Like any other fruit, this fresh kala jamun is best enjoyed eating it just like that. Or sprinkle some black salt over it and just shake it vigorously before having it.
The meaty flesh along with chatpata black salt will create music in your mouth with sweet and tangy flavors.
Since we are making panna, for that jamun is cooked in water along with sugar. After that, seed is removed and it’s blended along with mint, roasted cumin powder and seasoned with pink salt.
Before serving, sieve the blended ingredients and add some chilled water.
