This is a classic, old-fashioned red velvet cake. It is so moist, that it will melt in your mouth! And it’s frosted with the rich and creamy white chocolate ganache.

It’s not just me who’s in love with this cake. Every single person I brought a piece to, said wow on the first bite. I made this cake on the occasion of my hubby’s birthday.

Making red velvet cake was on my mind since long but I don’t know, somehow it got delayed as other things took the front seat. As hubby man’s birthday was fast approaching and I was in dilemma about the flavour of the cake.

And one fine day a dear friend Aparajita posted this beautiful red velvet cake pictures and I was so mesmarised upon seeing it and decided to go ahead with it.

You all know how much I love sharing my kitchen experiments on Instagram stories, and after sharing my homemade red velvet cake that I made few weeks ago, I got so many requests for the recipe.

Step by step instructions and pictorial presentation to make red velvet cake

Pre heat the oven at 180°C for 10 minutes.

In a mixing bowl sieve all the dry ingredients together – maida/all purpose flour, cocoa powder, salt, baking powder and  baking soda. Mix them well.

Separately whisk the wet ingredients – Take condensed milk in a bowl. Beat with electric beater until fluffy and light.
Add vanilla, Sugar, colour and oil and beat again.

Add it to the dry ingredients and mix well with a spatula till there are no lumps. Mix the milk gradually as and when needed to adjust the consistency of cake batter. The batter should be of ribbon consistency.

Preheat oven to 180 degree C.

Line the square/round baking tin with parchment paper. I have used 8×8 inch square tin.

Pour the ready cake batter.

Bake it for 25 to 30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean.

Cool the sponge and unmold.
