Popcorn bhel recipe | Popcorn chaat is a fusion recipe of making indian style chaat/snack. This zero oil, gluten free, vegan & vegetarian recipe is super simple that uses popcorn and other indian style chat ingredients along with some chutneys like Green chutney, and Imli ki khatti meethi chutney.
Go ahead and enjoy this as quick evening snack to satisfy your hunger pangs along with hot cup of tea.
What is chaat?
Chaat is a hindi word that means lipsmacking good. We indians love our chaat varieties. Be it Bhel Puri, sev puri, pani puri, samosa chat, Aloo tikki or Kala chana chat.
Every city has it’s own variations. Being from Mumbai, we love our bhel puri. And popcorns being everyone’s favorite, I combined everything together and voila, popcorn bhel was finished in no time.
Ingredients list to make Popcorn bhel recipe | Popcorn chaat
First and foremost ingredient we need ia popped corn. Along with that we need onion, tomato, cucumber, carrot, raw mango, American corn, roasted peanuts, bell peppers, olives, jalapenos, pomegranate, some basic spices to season, and chutneys to drizzle and top it with crunchy salty sev/bhujia.
Put salt at the base of cooker. Heat it for a minute. Add simple, basic corn kernels. Once they start to pop, cover the cooker without whistle but with gasket on.
Once corn kernels finished popping switch off the flame and let it cool.
OR
You can use readymade popcorn pack and pop it according to instructions given for the same.
After that cut all the veges into small dices.
To assemble :
Take a wide bowl, put finely chopped onion, tomato, spring onion, carrot, corn, cucumber and capsicum. To this add green raw mango pieces, pomegranate pearls, black olives, jalapenos and roasted peanuts.
Mix in all the spices like chaat masala, salt, red chilly powder and mix it well. Taste the test and adjust the seasoning accordingly.
Drizzle lemon juice, add green chutney and imli chutney. Add slightly crushed popcorns in the last. Top it with namkeen sev bhujia.
Mix this nicely so that everything gets blended well.
Garnish with coriander leaves and serve immediately.
Enjoy with hot cup of tea/coffee or just like that to satisfy your hunger pangs.

Ingredients
- Raw Popcorn kernels – 100 grams
- Tomato de seeded & finely chopped – 1 small sized
- Pomegranate pearls – 1/4 cup
- Boiled american corn - 1/2 cup
- Black olives – 4 thinly sliced
- Jalapenos – 2 to 3
- Raw green mango – 1/2
- Green capsicum -1/4
- spring onions – 1
- Chaat masala – 1/4 tsp
- Salt to taste
- Red chilli powder – 1/2 tsp
- Lemon juice – 1 tsp
- Imli chutney – 2 tsp
- Dhania pudina chutney – 2 tsp
- Namkeen sev/ Bhujia – 3 spoons
- Roasted peanuts – 1/4 cup
- Coriander leaves - for garnish
Instructions
- Let’s first know how to pop corn.
