As these beans are mildly flavoured green soya beans so you can flavour them with your choice of spices.
Typically, they are simply boiled in salted water and served hot. All you do is pick up a stir fried pod and pop the beans out into your mouth.

Have you tried making edamame before? For me it was for the first time. They are mildly flavored immature green soybeans. These were farm fresh, gifted by a dear friend Snehal.
Similarly, we love our Soyabean chunks curry Recipe which is in dry form of soya.
With these fresh Edamame beans, I wondered if I could make it a bit more interesting by adding some flavour?
Going forward I searched Google for the same and came upon the idea of making it in Asian style but adding my own punch.
So get ready for the best edamame stir-fry using some interesting ingredients. Since the outer fibrous pod is not edible, you need to work on the texture of the beans inside.
Ingredients used to make The Best Stir Fry Edamame | Edamame stir fry
Fresh Edamame beans – The main ingredient provides a nutty and a chewy texture to the dish.
Sesame oil – Adds Asian punch to the dish.
Soy sauce – Soy sauce adds a umami flavor to the dish and helps to balance out the other flavors. You can use Tamari or liquid aminos as a gluten-free alternative.
Sweet chili sauce – Add a spicy as well sweet kick to the dish that can be adjusted as per personal preference.
Dry Garlic coconut chutney – adds a crunch, pungent, savory flavor to the dish which helps to enhance the flavour.
OR
you may use fresh minced garlic/garlic powder and desiccated coconut as substitute.
Roasted Sesame seeds – Roasted Sesame seeds are added as a final garnish that provide a nutty, and a crunchy texture to the dish.
Step by step instructions and pictorial presentation to make
Clean, wash and towel dry the fresh edamame beans. Meanwhile prepare a large pot with water for boiling.
Once it comes to rolling boil add fresh Edamame beans and steam them for 4-5 minutes.
Drain the water and keep it to cool.
In a heavy bottom skillet, heat sesame oil over medium-high heat. Once it begins to shimmer, add steamed edamame stirring occasionally, for 5 minutes or until pods take on some brown spots.
Next, add sweet chili sauce, soy sauce, dry garlic coconut chutney powder tossing edamame until coated well.
In the last sprinkle roasted sesame seeds and serve hot.
Top Tips
1. The outer fibrous pod of Edamame is not edible, so always provide a discard bowl for your guests for those empty shells.
2. Edamame can be boiled, steamed, or microwaved prior to stir-frying.

Ingredients
- 1 10 oz. Pack Fresh edamame
- 2 tablespoons sesame oil
- 2 tablespoons Sweet Chili Sauce
- 1 tablespoon Soy sauce
- 1-2 teaspoon dry garlic coconut chutney
Instructions
- Clean, wash and towel dry the fresh edamame beans. Meanwhile prepare a large pot with water for boiling.
