Step by step instructions and pictorial presentation to make your own 2 ingredient homemade Almond milk recipe

Soak the raw almonds for at least 12 hours or overnight. Otherwise, they will not blend as nicely.

Once almonds have soaked, drain/rinse the water. At this stage you may peel the almonds, I didn’t.

Add them a blender, pulse it with 1/2 cup of water for few seconds. Next, add 1 cup of water.

Blend on high for few minutes. In the last, add remaining 1 cup of water and blend well.

Store in an airtight glass jar!

Some variations for flavoured almond milk

You may try adding the following ingredients to your almond milk –

1/2-1 tsp pure vanilla extract

2 medjool dates, pitted or maple syrup

1/8 tsp salt

If you are adding dates, pulse them along with the almonds. The other additions can be added after the milk has been sieved/filtered.

Tips for making best 2 ingredient homemade almond milk

1. Make sure to soak Almonds well that will help to blend easily. If under-blend, then it will be too chunky to strain.

It should be relatively free flowing and smooth when you pour it.

2. Don’t discard the pulp. Save and make Badam halwa. Or dry in cotton cloth to make almond meal. Use it to add in smoothies.

3. Make sure to store it in an air tight glass bottle/ Mason jar.

4. Before each use, shake the bottle well. The milk can separate so make sure to combine well before using.

5. You may substitute Almonds with cashews or walnuts/pecans.

6. If you wish to have sweetened almond milk, feel free to add maple syrup.

Shelf life of almond milk

If stored well it may last upto 4-5 days in the refrigerator. I would suggest to smell and check after 3 days if your almond milk has gone bad.
