Ingredients

  • 5 grams china grass strands
  • 1/2 liter milk
  • 1/2 tsp cardamom powder
  • 4 tbsp of sugar more or less
  • 8 blanched Pistachios slivered
  • 8 strands of saffron
  • 6 Strawberries chopped
  • Few Strawberries to garnish

Instructions

  • First assemble all the ingredients.
  • Cut the half packet of china grass/agar agar (around 5 grams) into small pieces using scissors.
  • Soak this into 1/2 liter (pre boiled and cooled) milk for about 15 minutes. Keep it aside.
  • Meanwhile chop strawberries in small pieces.
  • Now boil milk with china grass on slow flame and stir it continuously till it dissolves completely. Switch off the flame and strain the milk mixture through sieve.
  • Place this pan again on stove and add sugar and cardamom powder to this and cook for 5 more minutes. Add Saffron and chopped nuts.
  • Cool it a bit and pour into moulds.  After that immediately mix chopped strawberries.
  • As china grass sets on room temperature quickly you need to keep check on it.
  • Keep in the fridge to chill for 3 to 4 hours. De mould and serve with chopped dry fruits on the top.

Notes

1. China grass sets quickly at the room temperature so pre prepare everything and then start making this dessert.
2. You can set china grass in small individual bowls or in shot glasses.
3. Adjust the quantity of sugar according to sweetness of strawberries.
4. For Vegan Friendly options, use Coconut or Almond milk.
