Jeera Aloo Recipe (Cumin Potatoes ) | Zeera Aluis a simple, quick to make, delicious, a must-try dish with potatoes and some basic spices easily available in your kitchen.

Ingredients

  • 3 Potatoes
  • 1 tbsp Cumin seeds/Jeera
  • To taste Salt
  • 1 tsp Chilli powder
  • 1/2 tbsp Amchur/Dry mango powder
  • 3 tbsp Oil
  • Handful of Coriander leaves

Instructions

  • Peel and wash potatoes. Cut into cubes and soak this in water.
  • Meanwhile, heat the pan with oil. Once its hot, to this add cumin, let it splutter. Immediately add cubed potatoes and saute.
  • Add required salt, cover and let it cook on slow flame for about 7-10 minutes.
  • In between open the lid, turn potatoes upside down and let it cook.
  • Check with knife, once done add red chilli powder, amchur powder and mix well so that the spices coat the potatoes well.
  • Roast for a few mins. Finally add coriander leaves and mix. Switch off the flame.
  • Thats it. Irresistible Jeera Aloo is ready.
  • Serve hot with roti or rice.

Notes

1. To make aloo jeera in the authentic Indian style, then, replace oil with ghee, this elevates the taste and aroma of this dish.
2. If you like your aloo to be more spicy, add some red chilies flakes or you can also use green chilies.
3. Add a teaspoon of lemon juice instead of dry mango powder/Amchoor if you prefer a tangy jeera aloo.
