What is Dal?
Dal/Lentils is basically a curried stew of cooked pulses prepared in an Indian style onion – tomato gravy.
Dal is an essential part of Indian main course. My family is no exception. They loves to have a bowl of rice, with generous amount of this dal drizzled over with a dash of lemon juice and onion rings on the side for lunch/dinner.
In many parts of the country, variety of dals is cooked on daily basis to go with Indian breads like roti, naan or rice.
