Gluten free and Vegan Chawal ki Roti | Rice Flour Roti (Flatbread) is a type of Indian flatbread that’s made with just 4 ingredients- rice flour, salt, oilĀ  and hot water. It turns out super soft and pairs well almost all currys.

This chapati is also known as Tandlachi bhakri in Maharashtrian language which means rice flour chapati

Nowadays,Ā  we all are loving our Gluten-free jowar roti (Sorghum flour flatbread) for lunch as it kinda pairs well with any type ofĀ Curries,Ā Main Course meals, Raita, pickles etc. They are amazing to serve with egg curryĀ as well!

Chawal ki Roti | Rice Flour Roti (Flatbread)

Ingredients

  • 1 cup rice flour
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp Oil
  • Warm water - as required to knead the dough

Instructions

  • To begin with heat around 1 cup water in a pan to knead the dough.
  • Measure the rice flour and place in a wide bowl. To this add salt and oil. Now add required hot water and mix with a spoon. Cover the bowl and let it rest for about 10 minutes.
  • After that, knead the dough using you fingers and palm till soft and smooth. Now to make chapati/bhakri/flatbreadĀ  first make euqal portions of dough.
  • Take a dough ball, flatten it with your fingers, dust some dry rice flour all over. Roll with a rolling pin gently.
  • If you are not able to roll then you may roll the dough between two plastic sheets.
  • Next heat tawa/ griddle, once hot place the rolled roti. Smear little water on top surface of roti with fingers or use a brush.
  • After a while, the top surface would start to dry, that means the down side is cooked well.
  • Now, flip roti and lower the flame to medium. Let it cook till you see few brown spots. Now with the help of tongs, roast both the sides directly over the gas flame.
  • Once done, serve immediately. You may apply ghee/butter, i haven't.
  • Similarly make rest of rotis, store them in cassarole or airtight container.

Notes

1. Make sure that while making these Gluten-free rotis, the dough needs to be warm. You need to be pretty quick while doing this.
2. You may serve these bhakri applying ghee on top. I haven't.Ā 
3. If making these ahead then store them in airtight container.Ā
